Dubai Police launch major Covid-19 safety drive
Dubai Police launched a major Covid-19 safety drive for the Eid Al Fitr holiday.
Thousands of officers will be on patrol during the long weekend, with hundreds of more volunteers enlisted to remind members of the public of key precautionary measures.
It is the second year that the festival is being observed against the backdrop of the pandemic.
Authorities have already called on citizens and residents alike to avoid large gatherings, to not exchange gifts and food with neighbours and exchange Eid greetings online.
Police will enforce virus rules — such as the wearing of face masks and social distancing — on land and sea as part of an extensive campaign.
Mosques, where Eid prayers are being held, will be closely monitored so that social distancing measures are adhered to.
